Scope and Content | Helene Marie Jackson was born on 8 June 1910. She married Douglas Lipscombe Sinnatt, an undertaker. The Sinnatts lived in Jersey during the Occupation at a number of addresses including: 40 La Motte Street, St Helier; La Baule, Grouville; Athis, Beaumont, St Lawrence; and Yaldham, Mashobra Park, St Helier. During the Occupation, Helene compiled six scrapbooks which contain a wide range of material including, but not limited to: newscuttings, photographs, theatre programmes, orders issued by the German authorities, Red Cross messages, letters, autographs, posters and military insignia. The scrapbooks cover the whole period of the Occupation from the surrender of Jersey on 1 July 1940 through to the Liberation of the island on 9 May 1945. |
