Petition to the States Assembly on the siting of Grands Vaux School presented to the States by Deputy N Le Brocq. The petition states, 'That children due to attend the Grands Vaux Primary School are endangered by its position at the foot of the Grands Vaux dam, which could be breached by a severe earth tremor at any time and thus engulf the school; that a landslip could cause large quantities of water to pour over the dam and flood the school; that the children could scale the very inadequate fencing round the reservoir and play on the dam or on the banks of the reservoir and could fall in and drown. That parents who withhold their children from the school for fear of prosecution, or could suffer such prosecution by the education authority if they did not comply. And accordingly yor petitioners pray: That there be no compulsion to send children to the school when parents hold such fears, and that no prosecutions be made; That temporary accommodation be provided in other existing schools, and free transport be provided by the education authority for the children's safe travel to school and back; That a new school be provided on a safe site.'
