Image of the oil painting Battle of Jersey, the Death of Major Peirson by Edward Francis Burney, which was acquired by the Societe Jersiaise. The painting depicts the surrender of de Rullecourt; he is handing his sword to Corbet but a second too late, the musket of Peirson's servant is levelled at him and a moment later Baron de Rollecourt lies dead [see JWP 20/02/1954 p 8]. Negative number 4 of Museum Subject Box number 2 of the Jersey Evening Post (JEP) Photographic Archive. The negative was scanned at 1200 dpi and can be downloaded as a high quality jpg file. The quality of the scanned image is dependent on the condition of the original.

Incomplete typescript of a letter from Brigadier A E Snow [Snow's name is not mentioned in the text but the content of the letter indicates that he is the writer] to his wife. Includes details of the trip across the Channel in the Bulldog followed by the Beagle and his initial meeting with the German Forces in which he was told that the German's did not consider hostilities to have ceased. The second encounter outside St Peter Port Harbour resulted in the landing of soldiers in Guernsey and the raising of the British Flag. Snow had already left in the Beagle for Jersey and describes the scenes that met the arrival of the Liberation Forces at St Helier Harbour. He then describes his meeting with the German Commander for Jersey and the Bailiff. The second typescript letter is dated 11th May and describes events in Guernsey and Snow's meeting with the Dame of Sark. He then moves to Jersey and describes his speech to the States of Jersey and reading of the Proclamation in the Royal Square. He also describes his visits to Sark and Alderney and the state of the Russian Prisoners of War. The third letter is dated 1st July and describes conditions in Alderney and Sark.
