Image of a cruiser in the Harbour which relates to Jack Auty and Dr Brian Comerford who were rescued mid Channel from a similar boat by the British cargo ship Monksgarth after their cruser developed engine problems. The men were due to be put ashore in Gibraltar [see JWP 11/5/1963 p 1]. Negative number 139 of Yachting Subject Box number 9 of the Jersey Evening Post (JEP) Photographic Archive. The negative was scanned at 1200 dpi and can be downloaded as a high quality jpg file. The quality of the scanned image is dependent on the condition of the original.

Images of the Madagascan oil tanker 'Tanio' that has struck rocks thirty seven miles from the coast of Brittany, during a voyage from Wilhelmshaven, Germany to Civitecchia, Italy. The tanker will go on to spill 13, 500 tons of cargo oil into the English Channel, as the vessel splits in two.
