Letter from Lieutenant Colonel Philippe Le Brun to Philippe Neel esquire relating to the disposal of the Military Colours of the 1st or North West Regiment. He states that the first set of regimental colours has been offered to and accepted by St Ouens Parish Church. He understands that the parishes of St Ouen and St Mary have paid equally for the second set of colours and that as they cannot be divided he hopes that some amicable agreement can be made as to their disposal. Extracts from a meeting of the committee formed in the name of the act of the Assembly dated 05/09/1882 relating to the disposal of the colours of the 1st and North West Regiment of the Royal Jersey Militia and of letters written between the Constables of the parishes of St John and St Mary. The committee has considered the letter written by Lieutenant Colonel Le Brun [F/E/U1/5] and has written to Nicolas Arthur Constable the Parish of St Mary suggesting that the matter be referred to his Excellency the Lieutenant Governor. Copy letter sent from Lieutenant Governor Henry Wray to Colonel Le Brun relating to the dispute over the colours of the 1st Regiment of the Jersey Militia. Correspondence relates to the reception of a deputation from the Parish of St Mary who make a claim to be considered equally with the Parish of St John in the disposal of the colours . The Lieutenant Governor states that as it is obvious that the matter will not be resolved without full enquiry, the proposed ceremony to present the colours to St John's Church should be postponed and that Colonel Le Brun should make himself available at the Lieutenant Governors office in Ann Street on Saturday the 30th of August in case he is needed after the deputation is received. The reverse of the letter contains a copy of the reply from the Reverend Adolphus Orange Balleine Rector of St John acting for the executive committee agreeing that the ceremony should be postponed until further orders. Letter sent from Government House to the deputations from the parishes of St John and St Mary regarding the dispute over the disposal of military colours. The Lieutenant Governor writes that he has received deputations from each parish and he sets out the events that have preceeded this and examines evidence give by each party. The Lieutenant Governor rules that the Constables of each parish have no right to decide the fate of the colours and that only the commanding officer of the regiment [Lieutenant Colonel Le Brun] can do so. He therefore proposes that if the Lieutenant Colonel le Brun is unable to make a decision, the colours should be placed at Brigade Headquarters until such time as one parish gives way to the other and the matter is resolved.[for other documents relating to this dispute please see reference numbers F/E/U1/5-11]

Copy letter from Philip Le Brun of Midvale House to Thomas Falla Constable of St John, asking him to see the Rector of St John and to arrange for him to receive the colours of the late North West Regiment. In view of the previous dispute he asks that there is to be no display whatsoever. Philip Le Brun gives the colours to the Parish of St John in his capacity as the senior surviving officer of the regiment, with the expressed wish and desire of the late officer commanding the regiment.
