Almanacs - early almanacs contain an Island list of notable inhabitants - essentially landed and rate paying. All the Jersey Officials at States level and Parish level are named and there are categorised lists of Professional, Mercantile, and Trading Classes of St Helier with names and addresses. Commissioned officers of the regiments of the Royal Jersey Militia are named. Also included are officers of many of the Island's Commercial Associations, Banks, Societies, Clubs, Public Schools, Church and Religious Organisations, Shipping Companies, and there are lists of Jersey vessels. The almanac for 1875 is the first to contain the Local Events for the Year. The almanacs also contain Royal Court and Police Court reports. Later almanacs reduce the details from the courts and details from the courts are completely absent in current almanacs. Today's almanacs give lists of facts and figures, government and administration, professional and financial, tourism and travel, farmers, growers and gardeners, clubs and organisations, the householders guide, and a street index with lists of names and addresses of rate payers.
