L/D/25/F1 German Green Books and Related Photographs - photographs of German defences marked 'Green Books' are from official German sources and were taken by 319 Division Map Making Section during the closing months of 1944. Generalmajor Graf von Schmettow ordered the compilation of a complete record of the wartime defences and the result was a collection of books entitled 'Taktische Ubersichten der Festungshereich Jersey' (A Tactical Review of the Fortress Area Jersey). In 1948 a set of these books were given to the Société Jersiaise by the War Office and came to be nicknamed the 'Green Books' by virtue of their cover. In 1975 the Channel Islands Occupation Society were given a complete set of the original 35mm contact prints which was used to make up the 'Green Books' and this series is the result.
