Photograph of lifeboat crewman G Langdon, holding the flexible fuse from a lifeboat maroon. The maroon is in a portable mortar (the box like apparatus in the foreground with carrying handles and a central tube). Two maroons were fired in succession to summon the lifeboat crew in case of emergency. Directly behind Mr Langdon is W [Bill] Kent who is wearing a nautical cap and jacket. The picture was taken near the top of the old lifeboat slipway in London Bay, St Helier Harbour. Photographs of the lifeboat Howard D, one with crew in wet weather clothing and one with passengers aboard in the Harbour, possibly after its' naming ceremony.
