Scope and Content Background and Home Life Refers to birth in Jersey and being under the care of Children’s Services from a young age due to parents’ divorce and mother’s nervous breakdown. Refers to education at Le Rocquier School and Victoria College. Institutions Refers to education at Le Rocquier School and Victoria College. Refers to admission to Haut de la Garenne in 1980 at age of about 13, mentioning joining Baintree group and describing location of shared bedroom on the ground floor. Describes conditions at Haut de la Garenne as clean with the residents being well fed and cared for. Recalls holiday in the summer of 1982. Recounts being bullied at Haut de la Garenne by older residents, mentioning his pocket money being stolen. Abuse and Consequences Describes sexual abuse by a member of Haut de la Garenne staff in an office at Haut de la Garenne between late 1982 and early 1983. Refers to female resident’s acts of self-harm. Events since leaving Care Details current residence, marriage and unemployment. Cites negative experiences at Haut de la Garenne as cause of him becoming withdrawn, and comments that whilst he has not told anyone about the abuse, he is willing to attend court to support any prosecution by Police. Refers to being contacted by a reporter from The Sun newspaper on 22 February 2008, and having not made contact with the reporter in return.
