Scope and Content Notes that Centenier de la Mare was informed of Witness 123 and the other girl absconding. Mentions discovery of the girls by a voluntary part-time worker at the Weighbridge, and subsequent questioning of the girls by [Children's Officer] Miss [Patricia] Thornton and Tilbrook in the Children's Office regarding their behaviour and absconsion. Notes response of Tilbrook upon being told by the girls that they had spent the night with a young male, and subsequent investigation and interview of the individual in question and his mother. Gives details of subsequent interview of the girls, consultation with Centenier de la Mare and involvement the Criminal Investigation Department. Refers to Witness 123 and the other girl being interviewed by [Woman Detective] Constable Mrs de Carteret and Detective Constable Le Gros wherein the girls admitted to having slept with the young male and made allegations of sexual offences committed against them. Comments on findings of medical examinations of the girls by Dr [Murphy]. Notes admission of offences by the young male in an interview conducted by Detective Constable Le Gros and subsequently being charged with attempted carnal knowledge. Gives details of further interviews of Witness 123 and the other girl conducted by Tilbrook to garner the girls' versions of events, explanations for their behaviour, and attitudes towards and experiences of sexual activity. Notes Witness 123's conversations with fellow children in residence and students at St Helier Girls' School about sex education and sexual experiences, including children aged 12 subject to Care and Protection Orders. Comments on Witness 123's understanding of the situation and the implications thereof.
