Scope and Content Background and Home Life Comments on frequency of mother’s admissions to hospital as reason for his initial admission to Haut de la Garenne on a temporary basis when he was between four and six years old. Recalls mother’s death in 1966, due to which he stayed at Haut de la Garenne until he was aged 16. Institutions Names initial Haut de la Garenne [Superintendent] as [George] Maggs. Comments on transfer to Haut de la Garenne on a full time basis in 1961 or 1962, naming Haut de la Garenne [Superintendent] [Colin] Tilbrook and other members of staff. Refers to belonging to the Junior group at Haut de la Garenne, mentioning also the Intermediate and Senior groups. Names [Ray] Williams and another member of staff as being in charge of the Senior Group, with [Ray] Williams taking charge of the male residents. Recalls other residents at Haut de la Garenne, mentioning [a relative] and the death of a male residents. Describes transient nature of children’s residencies at Haut de la Garenne. Reports that the member of staff told them not be 'stupid', denied the allegations, threatened them with consequences, and mentioned that [Ray] Williams could lose his job if they took their complaint further. Recalls being instances of physical abuse by [Ray Williams] and another member of staff whilst in the shower. Refers to being informed of an individual being sexually abused whilst resident at Haut de la Garenne.
