Scope and Content | • Statement recorded by Woman Police Sergeant C M Elliott on 26 March 1989. Refers to former residence at the Group Home at 108 Clos des Sables ran by staff including Les Hughes. States that she moved to the Group Home when she was 9 in 1979 and remained there until she was 17, stating that she had trial weekends there prior to her move. Recalls Les Hughes kissing her on the mouth before bedtime and refers to being warned about Les Hughes by another resident which she inferred was due to Hughes having made a sexual advance. Describes an incident where Les Hughes made inappropriate comments and tried to sexually abuse her when she was aged 12 or 13, noting that she drunk at the time. Describes inappropriate behaviour by Les Hughes toward another female resident at Clos des Sables, noting his reaction to telling him that the girl had just come out of the bathroom, witnessing attempted sexual abuse. Includes recollections of other girls in residence at Clos des Sables, commenting on Les Hughes' behaviour and actions towards one girl in particular. Refers to another resident raising suspicions that Les Hughes was sexually abusing this girl.
