Scope and Content Refers to a report dated 24 July 2007 concerning child protection arrangements in Jersey. Sets out details of events following a number of complaints and allegations by Senator S Syvret regarding child protection and welfare services in Jersey. Refers to Senator Syvret's public criticism of members of the civil service reported in the Jersey Evening Post, the contents of a letter from the Child Protection Committee, agreement between Senator Syvret and the Chief Minister regarding the need for a full and independent inquiry. Records conclusion that the Council of Minister should launch a 3-stage inquiry into the allegations concerning the delivery of child protection services in Jersey, setting out details of each stage and details of Senator Syvret's response to the Council's decision. Also notes agreement that a public statement confirming the launch of the 3-stage inquiry, together with a summary of the reasons for the commissioning of the inquiry and a brief comment regarding the Council's view in respect of Senator Syvret's reported comments concerning the performance of certain civil servants, should be released on 27 July 2007.
