Scope and Content | Refers to the sentencing of Andrew Jervis-Dykes to a term of 4 years' imprisonment by the Superior Number of the Royal following his guilty plea to six counts of indecent assault and one count of possessing indecent video footage of a child, then a pupil of Victoria College when Jervis-Dykes was a member of teaching staff. Refers to further offences not proceeded with because they occurred outside the jurisdiction of the Jersey courts. Also refers to a report detailing certain concerns of the investigating officers of the criminal investigation about the response of the headmaster and other members of the teaching staff to events. Notes two areas of concern in particular relating to: the supervision of trips and the reaction of the school authorities to previous complaints against Jervis-Dykes; and the attitude of certain staff during the course of the police investigation. Includes comments about issues raised in the reports relating to matters arising before the police investigation and matters arising after the arrest of Jervis-Dykes, referring to the actions of teaching staff including Mr [Jack] Hydes, Mr [Piers] Baker and Mr [David] Rotherham. |
