Mrs Wells speaks about life during the occupation, the german soldiers, the russian prisonners, her father unloading the Vega, her mother working at the hospital and as district nurse during the was, the fortifications in St Aubin, sabotaging and the germans equipment, the soup kitchen at St Aubin, the cleaning up after liberation, her sister wanting to escape the island, the food shortages, the rationing after liberation for a time, the slow changes and the new shops in St Aubins, her involvement in the Girl Guides, going to Royal Square on Liberation day, the visit of the King and Queen, her time at St Brelade's Central school during the occupation, working as a nanny, moving to England, meeting her husband and coming back to Jersey, working for Vivian Vivert, the traffic and life in St Helier, the tourist season, the cinemas, the battle of flower and the St Aubins fete, the International Road Race, the new St Aubins Parish Hall, the potatoes and tomatoes vans lining up at the weighbridge, the end of the construction of the catholic church in St Aubin, the death of the king and watching the coronation on television.
