Scope and Content | • Letter dated 14 June 1993 from [Anton Skinner], Children's Officer to Philip Bailhache, Attorney General. Congratulates Mr Bailhache on his valuable work in respect of the recommendations concerning child witnesses and relays the appreciation and support of the recommendations on behalf of the Education Committee. • Act of the Education Committee dated 9 June 1993 concerning the recommendations of a Working Party formed to consider the problems associated with children giving evidence in child abuse prosecutions. Includes comments about the reasons for the creation of the Working Party and sets out details of the recommendations of the Working Party. Notes approval of the recommendations, detailing wish of the Committee that a parent or social worker be allowed to accompany a child witness on any occasion and recommendation that video-recorded evidence be destroyed as soon as the period of appeal had elapsed. Includes recommendation that the report and recommendations of the Working Party be referred to the Legislation Committee for implementation and such legislation be given a high priority. |
