| Scope and Content | Relates to a matter disclosed to Advocate Richard Falle by a client concerning a disclosure by her son that he had been sexually abused by Tony Watton whilst on a canoe trip to France. Sets out details of subsequent enquiries made by Detective Sergeant Lang and Detective Constable Duffy, referring to a conversation with another boy who was on the trip and his mother and details of an interview with Watton under caution. Records Watton's account of the trip, notes partial admission of sexual offences by Watton, Watton's denial of indecency with the boy in Jersey and assertion by Watton that he would seek immediate medical treatment, sell his canoes and stop associating with young males. Refers to Watton having been subject of several enquiries, noting insufficient evidence to prosecution and his expultion form the Jersey Canoe Club. Includes notes in manuscript dated 26 June and 28 June 1985 relating to contact with Tom Keir Hardy [Hardie] of the Jersey Youth Service about the matter, noting his awareness of the matter and request for documentation so that Watton can be blacklisted from association with young people. Refers to discussion of the matter with DCI [Detective Chief Inspector] Quinn. |
