Scope and Content | Refers to receipt of a decision from the AG [Attorney General's] office stating that the decision to place a child at Greenfields will not now be challenged in the Court due to arrangements made for [the child] to placed at a secure unit. Includes comments about issues surrounding the original judgement, noting discussion of the matter with Marnie [Baudains] and Tony [Le Sueur] and belief that the judgement needs to be challenged. Sets out details a number of concerns explained to a Minister including: the legal status of a young person in care at Greenfields; a mixture of residents on remand and sentenced; issues surrounding the possible placement of a female with a sentenced sexual offender; arrangements for youth detention in Jersey; and risk of the case acting as a precedent for further placement of unsuitable young people at Greenfields. |
