Scope and Content | Describes how the system in place at Les Chênes changed on the recommendation of Kathy [Kathie] Bull in August 2003 that care staff not teaching staff looked after the young people prior to when she was recruited in September 2003 and commenced employment in October 2003. Recalls other members of staff who started at the time as her, includes a description of the building at Les Chênes and details her understanding of how the secure cells were used for young people on remand. Describes chaotic situation at Les Chênes prior to the arrival of a member of staff who introduced the Grand Prix system. Describes changes introduced by the staff member upon his arrival regarding the admission procedure and placement of children in a locked bedroom rather than a secure cell. Includes an explanation of each stage the Grand Prix system, including qualifiers, grid, track and the pits. Includes a description of reporting and recordkeeping system in place at Les Chênes, referring to the use of daily logs, running records and secure books. Refers to moving to the Greenfields building in October 2006, noting that the Grand Prix system was in existence until this move.
