Scope and Content | Relates to the Head Teacher of Janvrin's three-month period of secondment within the Children's Office during the Autumn term of 1983. Outlines the brief of the secondment and constraints associated with the secondment. Includes comments on each of the three aspects of his brief in turn: looking the Child Care Service from a parental point of view, particularly in relation residential establishments, foster parents, day minders, and children with behavioural and emotional problems; liaison between primary schools and the Children’s Office, particularly in relation to children in care, contact between schools and the Children's Office, children at risk, liaison between schools and the Children's Office and suggestions put forward by Headteachers and the Children's Office for helping to bring about closer liaison; and the effect of being in care on the educational development of a 7 to 11 year old child. Includes three appendices: a questionnaire given to Headteachers of primary schools, a summary of answers to this questionnaire, and results of an assessment completed by primary school children covering the areas of speech and communication, response to learning, co-ordination, emotional development and academic achievement. |
