Scope and Content | • Report on the care of foster children, 1 March 1950 to 1 March 1951. Notes that the Loi sur la Protection de l'Enfance 1940 places the responsibility for the care of foster children on the Public Health Committee and notes instruction given to Miss H A Gracey upon her appointment to the staff at Overdale for work as a tuberculosis health visitor to devote some of her time to the care of foster children. Sets out details of Miss Gracey's report on the care of foster children, which includes: details of visits to foster mothers; registration of new foster mothers; boarding out of residents in children's homes; health and education; incentives for finding good foster homes including increased boarding-out allowances; and statistics regarding the weight of school children from surveys every five years since 1930 and from an additional survey in 1943 during the Occupation. • Report on the care of foster children, March 1951 to March 1952. Summarises statistics detailing further increases in the number of children in foster homes and includes comments about the progress of children boarded out through the Public Instruction Committee, children boarded out by the parishes and privately, a child placed without sanction and children attending the Child Guidance Clinic. Details need for more good foster homes. |
