Letter written by a person signing with the surname Pleineuf of La Coupe House, he is writing to someone he calls Lempriere, the correspondant gives thanks for a kind letter and informs them that he will be leaving the Island in October because the inhabitants are unfriendly and bad mannered and the tradesmen are dishonourable. He contines his letter with a complaint that the present inhabitants are a different breed to when he visited Lady Otway 23 years ago when the Island was charming and aristocratic rather than vulgar and dull as it is at present. He states that should Lempriere find a tenant before October he could leave earlier as he is going to England for a month or six weeks and will only be returning to pack.
