Petition to the States Assembly against the relocation of Jersey College for Girls to Mont Millais presented to the States Assembly by Deputy I S Nicholls as P7/1997. Petition states, 'The humble petition of the undersigned being independent governors of Victoria College and its Preparatory School, parents and teachers of pupils, old Victorian and others, inhabitants of this Island, shows the proposal to relocate Jersey College for Girls on the Victoria College House site, land which has at all times been part of the campus of Victoria College, to be gravely defective...Accordingly your petitioners pray having regard to the foregoing...that the States shall take no final decision on the Planning and other proposals for the relocation of Jersey College for Girls on the Victoria College House site until they shall have received and considered the full dispassionate report of a Committee of Inquiry...' Includes 1,592 signatures.
