Scope and Content

Gives details about staff and individuals at Haut de la Garenne including Morag Kidd, Tony Jordan and Tony Watton. Includes a positive recollection of one female member of staff, describing how they felt safe in her presence. Includes recollection of running away from Haut de la Garenne with other children on one occasion and subsequent reaction of Morag Kidd to forcibly drag some of the children into her van by their hair. Clarifies the timeline with respect to periods during which they were in care: including a period of time at Brig-y-Don aged 5-6. Describes return to Haut de la Garenne aged 9 or 10 in 1979 for a period of six months, recalling a calmer atrmosphere than experienced during their other spells at the home. Recollections of physical abuse by Morag Kidd. Includes descriptions of injuries suffered mentioning receiving a black eye. Describes being forced by Morag Kidd to take ice cold baths in humiliating circumstances. Also gives details of witnessing incidents of violence by Morag Kidd towards children who wet the bed and an incident of physical abuse towards a boy at Haut de la Garenne. Describes an intimidating atmosphere of violence and physical abuse prevalent at Haut de la Garenne, with particular reference to Morag Kidd. Provides further details about an incident whereby they were asleep for the duration of a day trip to the beach, placing the event at Havre des Pas in 1976. Expresses suspicions based on experiences in later life that in hindsight they had been drugged. Finishes the statement with a reflection on their time at Haut de la Garenne, describing their experiences whilst in care to have had a negative influence on their adult life. States to have had no contact with any other person who was resident during their time at Haut de la Garenne with respect to the abuse and offences they have disclosed.
