Background and Home Life Comments on having never known her mother and absence of father during Witness 123's childhood. Placed into care at early age along with older sibling. Institutions Recalls being at Haut de la Garenne from the age of 6, staying until the age of 14. Comments on experiences and time at Haut de la Garenne, recalling misbehaviour and running away from the home on several occasions. Includes recollections of staff, including [Colin] Tilbrook [Superintendent] and Ray Williams, commenting on their personalities, strictness, physical appearances and identifying features. Also includes recollections of the property, mentioning the main building, dining room and staff quarters. Left Haut de la Garenne aged 14 after starting employment, moving to Avalone [Avalon Hostel] on St Mark's Road. Stayed at [Avalon] until aged 18 to 19, occasionally visiting Haut de la Garenne during this period. Abuse and Consequences Recollections of sexual abuse by Ray Williams. Recalls three specific locations where she was sexually abuse by Williams, mentioning his flat at Haut de la Garenne, Fort Regent and St Aubin's Fort. Notes abuse at Fort Regent occurred before the existence of the leisure centre at the site. Incident of sexual abuse at St Aubin's Fort occurred when Witness 123 was aged 12 or 13, and includes a description of the site layout. Also recalls sexual abuse by Williams whilst he was driving a van during trips. Comments on conversations with her best friend at Haut de la Garenne about sexual experiences with Williams. Recalls four occasions during her time at Haut de la Garenne when Witness 123 was concerned that she might get pregnant by Williams whilst he was sexually abusing her. Gives details of emotional abuse by a female member of staff at Haut de la Garenne, described by Witness 123 to be responsible for girls in residence at the home. Includes description of the woman's physical appearance. Recollections of being contacted by Ray Williams aged 17 whilst in residence at [Avalon] and subsequent sexual abuse by him in a flat on Waterloo Lane. Gives details of an incident involving possible sexual abuse by a male member of staff at Haut de la Garenne when Witness 123 was aged 10. Events since leaving Care Recalls marriage to her husband in 1974, noting how Ray Williams gave her away at her wedding. Notes that she maintained contact with Williams until his death in Southsea the late-1980s, and attended his funeral. Reflects on experiences of sexual abuse by Williams, noting impact of the [States of Jersey Police] inquiry [into historic child abuse] with respect to coming to terms with realisation that Williams had abused her as a child.
