Scope and Content

Details Witness 124's initial referral to the Children's Office and Child Guidance Clinic in 1960 when Witness 124 was six years old and found to be stealing at school. Notes that Witness 124's father left the family home when Witness 124 was two years old. Refers to Witness 124's admission to Haut de la Garenne in November 1963, and discharge to care of mother in September 1966. Refers to arson by Witness 124, and subsequent three year probation order. Refers to Witness 124's transfer to a children's home in January 1967, and exclusion in March 1967, mentioning theft from shops and houses. Details return to mother's care in Jersey in December 1967, and Approved School Order of April 1968. Details transfer to an institution, and later return to Jersey. Details Witness 124's marriage in 1977, and career in the Army, after which Witness 124 and his wife settled in St Saviour.
