Institutions Details Constable of St John’s involvement in her admission to Haut de la Garenne with one sibling following father’s death and mother’s inability to cope. Details how two of her siblings went to La Preference Children’s Home initially, and how two of her siblings were sent to Brig-y-Don Children’s Home, before all six were reunited at Haut de la Garenne. States that for her first year at Haut de la Garenne she had no concerns about her treatment. Details move to the Seniors Group. Recalls [Ray] Williams turning mattresses upside down in the dormitories if residents made too much noise. Describes [Ray] Williams as brutal, and details his replacement by [Gordon] Wateridge, who had previous army experience. Abuse and consequences Recalls sexual abuse by a member of staff who would make the girls stand naked to prove they had no love bites.
