Provides a chronology of events relating to Witness 355 between 15 December 1965 and 8 June 1966. Includes remarks about improvements in Witness 355's behaviour and attainment contained in a school report presented at a Case Conference, comments about Witness 355's behaviour and conduct and reports of visits by a Child Care Officer. Also includes details of action taken in respect of incidents including a complaint from the Vicar of St James' [Church] regarding Witness 355 trespassing and committing arson in the Church and Witness 355 absconding from school and breaking into St Brelade's Church, noting appearance in the Police Court for the latter offence. Refers to an application form sent to [a special school] in respect of the transfer of Witness 355. Comments on lack of concern with respect to Witness 355 up to end of March , noting change of situation following Witness 355 spending Easter holidays at home. Notes reconsideration of arrangements regarding the care of Witness 355 thereafter, noting action taken by Tilbrook, [the Children's Officer] Miss [Patricia] Thornton and the Child Care Officer in terms of reports and recommendations in respect of Witness 355. Notes support expressed by Thornton and the Child Care Officer for Tilbrook's recommendation that another establishment be considered for Witness 355. Notes improvement in Witness 355's work and progress at school, commenting on his attendance at remedial reading classes and subsequent improvement in reading standard. Refers to Tilbrook's report [to the Police Court] dated 2 June 1966 regarding recommendations in respect of the most suitable institution for the care of Witness 355. Finishes by stating desire to retain confidence of [States] Departments in the work done [at Haut de la Garenne].
