Lists Thornton, and [Child Care Officer] Mr C Smith as present for the Case Conference. Refers to Witness 172's admission to Haut de la Garenne on 20 July 1962 and a Case Conference held on 20 February 1963. Includes comments about Witness 172's sisters, describing difficulties regarding Witness 172 as starting when one of his sisters left Jersey to live in England. Notes agreement that Witness 172 should spend as much time with his sister as possible whilst she returns to Jersey for a holiday, and that attempts be made to find out about Witness 172's half-brothers. Refers to comments by Smith about willingness of Witness 172's parents to accept that Witness 172 should remain at Haut de la Garenne. Includes comments by Mr [Colin] Tilbrook and Smith regarding restrictions on Witness 172 being allowed to go home. Includes an overview by Mrs [Margaret] Tilbrook [Matron, Haut de la Garenne] of Witness 175's medical history since the last Case Conference, noting Witness 172's contraction of tonsillitis, influenza and chicken pox. Refers to his referral to ENT [Ear Nose and Throat] for a tonsillectomy, dental checks and comments by Dr Williams about Witness 172's enuresis. Includes comments about Witness 172's progress at school and agreement that proper assessment be made after his operation, noting that Witness 172 had not stolen since last Case Conference. Refers to the Constable of St Helier [D W Ryan] initially ordering Witness 172's admission into care and recommendations be made that Witness 172 remain at Haut de la Garenne for a longer period of training until school leaving age. Notes agreement that the Constable be asked to propose this to Witness 172's parents. Includes recommendations of the Case Conference regarding action to be taken in respect of Witness 172, noting that reports should be sent to the Constable of St Helier, a bed found at the General Hospital for Witness 172 can receive a tonsillectomy, and attempts to be made by Smith to find out more about other members of Witness 172's family, particularly his married sister with the view of Witness 172 having a holiday with her on her return to Jersey.
