Scope and Content

Provides details of an interview conducted with Witness 594 at the request of the Court on 12 October 1976. Describes Witness 594 as in control of a gang that terrorised other boys within the school, referring to a history of aggression and anti-social behaviour on the part of other members of the family including his brothers. Expresses opinion about the reason for Witness 594's behaviour and likely outcome of such behaviour being placement in Borstal. Recommends that Witness 594 be placed in the care of the Children's Department with a view to his transfer to a suitable school. Expresses opinion that Witness 595 should remain out of the Island for some time in a placement that offers control by those supervising him and the opportunity for him to redirect his energies. Comments on lack of optimism about Witness 594's future prospects.
