Scope and Content

[For the Transcript of Part 1 of this Tape Recorded Interview with Witness 125, see C/D/AW1/A3/6/2/11/WD002193]. Starts with Michael Pick outlining his background as a retired Detective from Nottinghamshire. Refers to an incident where a male member of staff held Witness 125 under water in the swimming pool at Haut de la Garenne. States that he was not taken to the Hospital for medical attention in respect of this incident. Includes a description about Tony Jordan, including physical appearance, nationality, distinguishing features and personality. Recalls Jordan prodding him in the chest and shouting at him on a regular basis. States that Jordan's reasoning was because Witness 125 was disobeying orders such as washing dishes. Recalls Jordan and another male member of staff reserving him the same meal repeatedly until eaten. Describes one incident where Jordan physically restrained Witness 125 and threw him into the detention cell, referred to as the dungeon. Includes a description of the cell and recollection of amenities therein, comparing it to a prison cell in appearance and design. Recalls being placed in the cell regularly due to inability of staff to control Witness 125's temper. Refers to enuresis as a symptom of a medical condition. Recalls that he would often be put in the cell overnight, noting one incident where he was placed in the cell for a period of 3 or 4 days as punishment for running away. Also refers to use of caning as punishment for running away. Refers to physical abuse by a male member of staff, referring to incidents where he tried to drown Witness 125 in the swimming pool and sat on Witness 125's shoulders and pinned him down on the floor. Also describes being sexually abused by the male member of staff on two occasions at night, referring to another child who witnessed incidents. States that another member of staff also sexually abused him in an identical manner. States that after he refused to perform a sexual act, the members of staff put Witness 125 in the detetion cell.
