[For the Transcripts of Parts 1 and 2 of this Tape Recorded Interview with Witness 125, see C/D/AW1/A3/6/2/11/WD002193 and C/D/AW1/A3/6/2/11/WD002192]. Refers to a female member of staff who would use the intercom system who sexually abused him. Describes incident where this member of staff told Witness 125 to have sexual intercourse with her in the detention cell when he was aged 12, noting that when he refused she locked him in the cell. Refers to another resident who was in his group who may have been with Witness 125 when this incident happened. Refers to a fire at Haut de la Garenne when he was aged 13 or 14, stating that this resident refused to go onto the fire engine ladder. Also includes comments about another former resident who recently died with whom he was good friends, stating that his friend saved his life on two occasions. Also refers to other former residents who have since died, including one individual who committed suicide, whom he ran away with whilst at Haut de la Garenne. Recalls incident where other residents ran away and got as far as St Ouen, stating that he was caned more times than the other residents. States to have told a senior member of staff about the incident involving the female member of staff, stating that the female member of staff was spoken to but was not sacked. Describes being told other residents that they had been sexually abused by members of staff. States that a lot of his friends with whom he was at Haut de la Garenne have committed suicide due to experiences in care. Recalls talking to two individuals about his experiences at Haut de la Garenne prior to disclosures to the police, including his aunt. States to have not told his wife about experiences. Describes being told that two female residents were assaulted by a member of staff in the detention rooms. Describes being caned by a male senior member of staff and Mr Thompson [Jim Thomson] as punishment for enuresis, describing injuries sustained and consequences. Refers to being pushed into stinging nettles by another male member of staff. Describes being sexually abused by staff, referring to incidents in the detention cells and in a bedroom when he was aged 12 or 13. Recalls running away from Haut de la Garenne several times because he did not like how he was being treated. Describes incident where he ran away to the old harbour in St Helier to hide from staff and ended up in a hospital. States that as punishment, he was not allowed pocket money or supper for a month before being forced to eat food. Describes incident where he and another resident were trapped in the boiler room for a period of 3 or 4 days after another individual locked them inside. Includes discussion about a resident at Haut de la Garenne with whom Witness 125 was in the same group and shared a bedroom. States to have first moved to Haut de la Garenne when he was aged 6, spending intermittent periods there between foster placements up until he was aged 16. Recalls 30 to 40 members of staff during his time in residence at Haut de la Garenne. States willingness to go to court in respect of his disclosures.
