Apologies. Notes apologises from individuals, including Deputy E [Enid] C Quenault and Advocate R F V Jeune. 2. La Préférence Children's Home. Discusses the place of La Préférence Children's Home within residential care for children in Jersey. Refers to places available at Les Chênes [Residential School] and in Family Group Homes, and places hoped to be availabe at La Préférence Children's Home, Brig-Y-Don [Children's Home], and hostels operated by the Jersey Association of Youth and Friendship. Details arrangement between the Children's Sub-Committee and La Préférence Children's Home whereby the Sub Committee would purchase 18 beds at La Préférence at a cost of £40,000. Notes figures of £50,000 and £60,000 requested by staff for the years 1983 and 1984. Refers to La Préférence's ability to refuse to accomodate a child who might have a damaging effect on the other children resident. Details discussions with La Préférence staff regarding funding and the number of places to be bought by the Sub-Committee. Describes the freedoms available in the operation of La Préférence as a [Voluntary Home], and scenarios in which the operation of La Préférence would change or stop. Notes the placement of difficult children at Haut de la Garenne, and the likelihood of placements of difficult children at La Préférence. Notes that should La Préférence provide a maximum of 12 residential places, small residential homes accomodating 16 children in total would need to be founded. Refers to a meeting between the Sub-Committee, the Jersey Association of Youth and Friendship's hostels, and Brig-Y-Don Children's Home dated 11 January 1984.
