|Scope and Content|
Refers to Director of Education John Rodhouse and Children's Officer T W Strettle. Refers to request by an Advocate to forward at letter to the Housing Department clarifying the legal situation regarding a family of children currently resident at the Family Group Home at Blanche Pierre, St Clement [Blanche Pierre Family Group Home]. States that Witness 154 and his siblings are in the care of the Education Committee on a voluntary basis and as requested by their mother prior to her death, mentioning Care and Control of the children vested in their mother following Matrimonial proceedings. States that upon the death of Witness 154's mother, the next of kin of the children became the legal father of an individual. Notes that as a legal parent, the father can request the discharge of the children from the care of the Education Committee to his own Parental Care. States that should the father make such a request, and his arrangements for the care of the children be acceptable before the Law, the Education Committee would not be able to prevent the father removing his children from the care of the Education Committee. Refers to an application made to the Housing Department regarding States Accommodation. Refers to [Witness 154] as an orphan in the care of the Education Committee, and notes approach made by an Advocate suggesting a letter of support be written by the Education Department to support [the father's] Housing application. States requirement of firm evidence to [the father's] committment and attitude to [Witness 154 and his siblings] over a longer period of time.
