Scope and Content | Refers to admission to Sacre Coeur Orphanage during the 1960s, commenting on his status as the last child to be kept at Sacre Coeur full time. Recalls sleeping with the older boys in their dormitory on the top floor of Sacre Coeur. States that girls slept on the second floor, whilst those under the age of 4 slept on the first floor. Recalls being cared for by strict Catholic nuns who would occasionally smack the children in their care. States that he did not witness abuse. Describes lonely older childhood at Sacre Coeur due to other children going home at weekends as they were only boarding during the week. Left Sacre Coeur at the age of 12 due to the closure of Sacre Coeur. Went on to live with his father. Describes sadness regarding childhood in what had felt like a prison-like institution, and maintains respect for the nuns who cared for Witness 807 and other children at Sacre Coeur. |
