|Scope and Content|
Includes comments about the overall picture of children in care at the end of 1964 in comparison to same number as at 31 December 1963. Provides details about recordkeeping of referrals to the Children's Derpartment and the expansion of the Children's Sub-Committee with respect to responsibility for the work of the Junior Training Centre in addition to responsibility for the Child Care Service. Includes comments about major developments regarding the Junior Training Centre and reference to residential care provided at Haut de la Garenne and Westaway Crèche. Includes comments about the case loads of child care staff and the rehabilitation of children with their own families or boarded out in foster homes. Refers to approval by the States for plans for a new wing at Haut de la Garenne, remarks about work of residential staff at Haut de la Garenne and reference to regular case conferences on the children, referring to involvement of third parties. Provides details of achievements by children both academic and extracurricular. Refers to the opening of two new Family Group Homes at 108 Clos des Sables and 14 Clos de Roncier, referring to the appointment of houseparents and plans for two houseparents to move to 46 Nicholson Park. Also refers to an increased amount of boarding out and an increased use of foster parents for children in need of care for a short period during a mother's illness or pending adoption arrangements. Also includes remarks about the Foster Parents Get Together in April held at the Pomme d'Or Hotel.
