|Scope and Content|
Includes a lists of members and co-opted members of the Children's Sub-Committee, Children's Office staff including field staff and administrative staff and staff at Haut de la Garenne, Westaway Crèche and the Family Group Homes at Clos de Roncier, Clos des Sables and 46 Nicholson Park. Provides an overview of the work of the Children's Section during 1965, referring to numbers of referrals and appointment of a new member of staff following a Home Office recommendation for additonal staff. Provides details of findings of an inspection of childcare provisions in Jersey undertaken by the Home Office Inspectorate, comments about the annual Foster Parents Get Together held at the Hotel Savoy on 27 April  and updates relating to the Children's Sub-Committee, including reference to a visit by Lady Villiers to the Junior Training Centre. Also provides details about the achievements of children in care, foster parents, education of children in care, the infiltration of children from Westaway Crèche, case conference involving third parties, after care provision and probation and approved school admissions. Also refers to the opening of the third Family Group Home at Clos de Roncier and remarks about exchange holidays by the Family Group Homes. Includes comments about children's holidays and care services provided by the Jersey Association for Youth and Friendship Hostel, Elizabeth House and Brig-y-Don. Includes comments about admissions to and discharges from care, work with unmarried mothers, adoption work in conjuction with Guernsey and Southampton, females going to England to have babies and staff changes at the Children's Department, including marriages, departures and appointments. Includes tables detailing comparative child care costs with English counties; an analysis of work in the child care service; overall pictures of reasons for admissions and discharges from care; and work with unmarried mothers in 1965.
