Notes that Alan and Jane Maguire were charged with offences of Cruelty under Article 9(1) of the Children's Jersey Law, and pleaded Not Guilty to all charges at an appearance at the Magistrates Court dated 5 March 1998. Refers to a Committal hearing taking place before Judge Trott on 8 June 1998, and an illness affecting Alan Maguire. Discusses the credibility of witnessess and their ability to provide evidence at the Royal Court. Notes decision made by Advocate A Binnington to abandon the prosecution, and queries whether Alan Maguire produced medical evidence to support his claims of ill health.
