Scope and Content

States that she went to Haut de la Garenne when she was 4 and moved to Blanche Pierre when she was 8. Refers to a couple who were running Blanche Pierre when she first arrived at there, stating that Mr and Mrs Maguire took over in about 1980, by which time the former resident attended Le Rocquier School. States that there was an improvement in conditions at Blanche Pierre upon the arrival of the Maguires mentioning better clothes, haircuts, holidays, weekend trips and birthday parties. Recalls other children and staff during her time at Blanche Pierre. Recalls sleeping arrangements, asserting that nothing happened to her or other girls that she recalls that made her feel uncomfortable, and that she was given her own room whilst attending Highlands College at the age of 16 or 17. States that she was happy at Blanche Pierre stating that all of the children were treated equally. States that children were given chores to do and that punishment for misbehaviour consisted of verbal warnings and groundings. States that she never had her mouth washed out with soap nor witnessed or heard of this hapenning to others, and asserts that she never saw anyone being physically abused. Asserts that she has no complaints against the Maguires and including comments about her relationship with the Maguires and other members of staff. Recalls regularly visiting Blanche Pierre after leaving care, stating that Jane and Alan Maguire were the first people she told about her pregnancy. Refers to a conversation with a former resident of Blanche Pierre during which this former resident disclosed to her information relating to Alan [Maguire], noting that she did not believe what had been said. Refers to having seen the former resident numerous times since the disclosure, noting that they had not mentioned it in subsequent meetings. Includes comments about the departure of Maguries from Blanche Pierre.
