• Letter dated 14 May 1970 from Miss Faithfull to Miss Thornton. Refers to enclosure of a letter sent to Constable Le Cornu regarding the level of boarding out allowances paid to foster parents in Jersey. Refers to enclosure of boarding out allowances paid to foster parents in Oxford and requests to be informed if the allowances are put up on higher scales. • Letter dated 14 May 1970 from Miss Faithfull to Constable Le Cornu. Expresses thanks to Constable Le Cornu and Mr Mourant for their hospitality following an evening at Bonne Nuit during a visit to Jersey. Includes comments about the work of the Children's Department, referring to visits to the department, the children's homes and the hostels run by the Jersey Association for Youth and Friendship. States that she was impressed by the meeting of foster parents, in respect of the quality of work done by the Children's Department and quality of the foster parents. Raises issue of increasing the boarding out allowances paid to foster parents in light of the rising cost of living, noting that foster parents failing to offer a service to require the establishment of more residential accommodation for children. Refers to providing Miss Thornton with a list of boarding out allowances paid to foster parents in Oxford, including a specified clothing allowances. Notes that foster parents did not raise this issue at the foster parents meeting.
