Scope and Content

• Pages 8 to 29 from Part 3 of the Tape Recorded Interview. Includes a discussion about items recovered during a search of Witness 264's home address including a notebook. Refers to Witness 264 confirming that he wrote entries in the notebook relating to his computer, stating that he wrote down addresses of websites relating to boys that he had received as junk mail under the instruction of Demon, his internet service provider, with a view of getting them blocked. Refers to Dave Cabeldu, a computer expert. States that he also received junk mail relating to medical pills and Christian fundamentalism and discussion about the implication of him having only wrote down website addresses relating to boys. Refers to comments by the interviewer about the findings about Witness 264 having an interest in boys not making him guilty of abusing [a former resident of Haut de la Garenne]. Refers to Witness 264 denying that he actively searched for such websites, admitting that whilst he had an interest in looking at photographs of young boys he never had any intention of harming anyone. States that he would look at the photographs when he received them via junk mail and took an interest in them. Includes comments about his interest in photographs of young boys, denying that he is sexually attracted towards boys. Sets out details about the indecent nature of the photographs, stating that the boys were between the ages of 12 and 17. States that he printed copies of some of the photographs before destroying them, providing explanation for doing so. States that this activity was done on a computer that he has dumped and was prior to him going to the police to make a complaint of blackmail against [the former resident of Haut de la Garenne]. Includes a discussion about Witness 264's previous computer, including cost and type, and refers to advice received that he should buy a new computer. States that he dumped his old computer in August [2003]. Also includes a discussion about a number of photographs of young boys torn out from a magazine which were found during a search of Witness 264's home address. Includes a conversation about the implication of these photographs having been found at Witness 264's home, comments by Witness 264 about the photographs and remarks by the interviewer that it indicates that Witness 264 has a sexual interest in young boys. Notes assertion by Witness 264 that he has never sexually abused a boy. Also includes comments about the nature of the websites written down by Witness 264 in his notebook, noting denial that he ever accessed a chat room. • Pages 1 to 3 from Part 4 of the Tape Recorded Interview. Includes a discussion about Witness 264's computer and photographs [of children of an indecent nature]. Refers to willingness of the interviewer to return to subject of allegations made by [a former resident at Haut de la Garenne] against Witness 264 and admission by Witness 264 of his interest in the sexuality of young boys. Refers to Witness 264 stating that he would not have volunteered this information if the matter had not arisen.
