Scope and Content

Includes a summary of findings in relation to a complaint concerning an item in the programme on Newsnight on BBC Two on 25 February 2008 involving the Chief Minister of Jersey (Frank Walker) and the former Health Minister (Stuart Syvret). Complaint relates to the edited extract having misrepresented the exchange between the Chief Minister and the former Health Minister and Jeremy Paxman having misquoted the Chief Minister during the interview and having been inadequate in his clarification of what the Chief Minister had said. Includes conclusions of the Editorial Standards Committee in respect of accuracy, impartiality, correcting mistakes, accuracy and impartiality (right to reply) and Editorial Complaints Unit action. Sets out details of the findings in respect of the complaint under sections titled: The context; The complaint; Applicable Editorial Standards; and The Committee's decision. States that the complaint was upheld in part on the issues of accuracy impartiality and correcting mistakes.
