Sound recording of Francis Corbet speaking about the Occupation and the years after. He was interviewed on 01/12/2004 by Stuart Nicolle for the Liberation to Coronation Oral History Project. Mr Corbet speaks about coming to Jersey before the Occupation, going to First Tower school and Victoria College, the days leading up to Liberation, the celebrations at Royal Square, the landing craft, the Germans leaving the island, the cold winter of 1944, the ressources shortage, being given days off school after Liberation, Germans removing fortifications and mines, exploring the germans fortifications, being a part of the Victoria College Officers Training Corps, the Jersey Airport, the Royal visit, the neighborhood of First Tower, the shops, the community of First Tower, the cinemas, the Opera House, the increase in tourism, the Battle of Flowers, the International Road Race, the dances, sports, going to Exeter University and coming back to teach at St John's School, the death of the king and the Coronation.
