• Minute B1 from the minutes of a meeting of the Council of Ministers held on 22 May 2008. Relates to discussion of the status of the criminal investigation into the historical delivery of child protection services in Jersey and media reporting of the evidential status of certain exhibits identified during the course of excavations and associated searches at Haut de la Garenne, referring to a report commissioned by the Minister for Home Affairs on the matter. Notes consideration that the Chief Minister should seek written confirmation from the Minister for Home Affairs regarding issues relating to personal political accountability, political oversight of the police investigation and the independence of audit mechanisms in place to monitor the progress of the criminal investigation. • Letter dated 12 June 2008 from Senator Wendy Kinnard, Minister of Home Affairs to the Chief Minister [Frank Walker]. Refers to Minute B5 of the meeting of the Council of Ministers held on 22 May 2008, noting that her Assistant Minister has since assumed appropriate political oversight of the historic abuse inquiry on 29 May 2008 following her instruction to the Police Chief to prepare a report consequent on accusations that she has misled the States in an answer put to her by Deputy [Sean] Power in respect of the first find of suspect human remains. Responds to questions relating to issues of personal political accountability, political oversight of the police investigation and the independence of audit mechanisms in place to monitor the progress of the criminal investigation, referring to the Association of Chief Police Officers and the National Policing Improvement Agency.
