Scope and Content

Explains the motivation behind his involvement in investigating child abuse in Jersey, citing his reaction to the Liberation Day speech made by the Bailiff of Jersey Philip Bailhache on 9 May 2008. Also refers to Operation Rectangle being made public and the concerns surrounding Haut de la Garenne, mentioning his residence near the Home and visits there through his involvement with the Youth Service. Describes entering the blogging community, referring to participation on the forum Planet Jersey and meeting with voiceforchildren in 2010. Describes decision to blog in his own name and details action taken to learn about the system of government in Jersey. Refers to agreement that he would concentrate on investigating the suspension of Graham Power, while voiceforchildren would focus on Lenny Harper. Describes being subject to verbal abuse including racial abuse on his blog. Includes remarks about the culture of establishment, mentioning comments made by Bill Ogley. Includes comments about a number of issues relating to Operation Rectangle including: the Matt Tapp Report, the suspension of Graham Power, events following Graham Power's suspension, the failure of Graham Power's judicial review claim and Graham Power's retirement. Describes explaining his concerns on this subject to the Education and Home Affairs Scrutiny Panel and the subsequent formation of a sub-panel to review the circumstances in which the Daily Mail was able to access the BDO report in advance and the reason why Lenny Harper was not interviewed for the BDO report. Includes comments about the significance of the findings of the report produced by the sub-panel, particularly in relation to the conduct of Mick Gradwell. Includes comments about the role of the media in Jersey particularly in relation to events surrounding the investigation of child abuse. Refers to the libel case brought against the Jersey Evening Post by Trevor and Shona Pitman.
