Lists those present at the meeting. Sets out reasons provided by the Superintendent and Matron, including concerns about their health in respect of long working hours, work pressures, staff difficulties and insufficient support. States that Mr [Gordon] Wateridge was principally responsible for the tensions at Haut de la Garenne. Refers to a report prepared by J H Thomson, Senior Child Care Officer whilst acting Superintendent, noting remarks about Wateridge having been interviewed and asked to seek employment elsewhere as a result of his rigid attitudes. Includes recommendations of the Superintendent and the Matron regarding proposed changes at Haut de la Garenne, including the conversion of the staff room into an office, the division of the children into family groups and alterations made to the groups, and the appointment of a Deputy Superintendent and of a handyman or driver. Also includes remarks about the separation of children on remand and short stay children away from the main Home and concern about the behaviour on school buses of boys on remand. Sets out decision regarding action to take regarding the future of the Superintendent and the Matron.
