Scope and Content

Refers to adaptations carried out at Haut de la Garenne, considerable movement of children at Haut de la Garenne and Westaway Crèche including the reception of children into care because of behaviour problems and reference a girl from Haut de la Garenne winning an open scholarship to the Jersey College for Girls. Refers to the difficulties associated with employment in residential care as experienced by Margaret Davies, an individual, and staff at Haut de la Garenne. Also refers to a visit by Lady Erskine and remarks about the second Foster Parents Get Together held in May [1961] at the Pomme D'Or Hotel. Refers to a baby joining the Nicholson Park [Family Group Home]. Provides details about the number of children in the care of the Education Committee on the 31 December 1962 in foster homes, lodgings and hostel, the Family Group Home, Haut de la Garenne, Westaway Crèche and other residential establishments including Boys' Army and Merchant Navy.
