Scope and Content

Records the results of an inspection of statutory and voluntary child care services in Jersey undertaken by Social Work Service Officers David Lambert and Elizabeth Wilkinson during February and March 1981. The terms of reference for the inspection were to examine Jersey laws relating to children and how said legislation was implemented, the roles and operation of child care services, and to make recommendations on how the child care system might be improved. Includes an introduction detailing a background to the inspection and outlining the method of work, and sections on the Children's Section, field work, case load management, specific services, residential provision and staff development. Finishes with conclusions and recommendations, including in relaiton to suggested restructuring and suggested future pattern of residential provision. Includes three appendices showing: the number of children in the care of the Education Committee as at 31 January 1981; statistics regarding client referrals to the Children's Section in 1980; and the duties of child care staff in order of priority,
