1. Report on a child kept in solitary confinement at Haut de la Garenne. Dated 15 June 1966. Refers to the child being remanded to Haut de la Garenne pending full psychiatric assessment. Notes advice from the Probation Office regarding the potential danger the child could pose to other children at Haut de la Garenne. Details concerns, and refers to the child as being in need of psychiatric care. 2. Note by Haut de la Garenne [Superintendent] Colin Tilbrook. Dated 20 June 1966. Refers to appearance at the Police Court, and work underway prior to hearing in the Royal Court. Notes agreement from the Magistrate to allow the child to be housed outside of solitary confinement, subject of pyschiatric opinion. Details conversation with Dr [J W] Wishart at a reception for the new Vicar of Gouray Church, mentioning concerns held by Colin Tilbrook for the safety of female children at Haut de la Garenne due to the presence of the child. Notes comment by Dr [J W] Wishart that he would perform, with Mr Birt, an abortion on any female child who became pregnant as a result of the child's presence at Haut de la Garenne. States that as a result of the present circumstances, and conversations with [Deputy Children's Officer] [C A] Smith, the child has been released from the detention room, under the supervision of Mr Cohen's supervision. 3. Note from Children's Officer [Patricia Thornton]. Dated 14 July 1966. Refers to discussion with Dr [J W] Wishart and the Attorney General regarding a child's placement at Haut de la Garenne following a mental health assessment. Notes explanation to Dr [J W] Wishart that the Education Committee would not be prepared to house the child following his appearance at the Royal Court. 4. Letter from Children's Officer [Patricia Thornton] to the Governor of HM Prison, F [Frank] Moon. Dated 16 July 1966. States that the child has been discharged from the care of the Education Committee following his appearance at the Royal Court.
