Refers to visit to Barrie Stead, noting Barrie Stead's employment with States of Jersey Police between 1964 and 1968. Refers to [sexually explicit] material produced at St Saviour's Hospital and Haut de la Garenne by [Wilfred] Krichefski and a cameraman. Notes that the material involved residents of Haut de la Garenne. Refers to [Krichefski's] role as [President] of the Defence Committee and Chairman of Channel [Television]. Recalls being instructed to halt the investigation. Recalls hearing of Operation Rectangle, and reading that [Krichefski] had been named by the Daily Mail as an abuser. Rang Jersey Evening Post to look into allegations and [Krichefski]. Recalls unknowingly speaking to a journalist from the News of the World about allegations concerning historic abuse of children in Jersey. Claims the journalist misquoted Barrie Stead. Discussed information concerning Haut de la Garenne and the halting of his investigation during the 1960s with three States of Jersey Police Officers, who instructed Barrie Stead not to involve. States that [an individual] who is carrying out a review of the investigation in related to [Krichefski]. Recalls arresting an [individual] for murder. Recalls that the [individual] was not prosecuted, and that Barrie Stead was told not to investigate further. Notes suggestion that Assistant Chief Officer Peter Turner be spoken in relation to the investigation.
